Enter a creator's followers and the likes and comments on a few recent posts. You get engagement rate the three ways Commently uses for creators, so one viral post does not decide your budget. Everything is calculated in your browser; nothing is sent anywhere.

Engagement rate

Classic ER
—The average of each post's (likes + comments) ÷ followers.
Organic ER
—The same, leaving out sponsored posts.
Median ER
—The middle post: one outlier cannot pull it up or down.

Enter followers and at least one post to see the result.

Commently calculates this for every creator you work with, next to follower quality and what their audience says in the comments.

How it is calculated

Three numbers, because one is not enough.

Engagement rate divides the interactions on a post by the account's followers. The classic figure averages it across posts, so a single viral post can inflate it. Organic ER removes sponsored posts, which often carry boosted reach. Median ER takes the middle post, which shows what a typical post really earns.

ER = (likes + comments) ÷ followers × 100

Questions
What is a good engagement rate?
It depends on the platform and on follower count: smaller accounts usually have higher rates than large ones. Compare creators of similar size on the same platform, and look at the median as well as the average.
Why calculate a median engagement rate?
An average can be pulled up by one viral post. The median shows what a typical post earns, which is a fairer basis for pricing a collaboration.
Is my data stored?
No. The calculator runs entirely in your browser and sends nothing to Commently or anyone else.
